Putting Students First in the Academic Integrity Discussion – Keynote Presentation

I was delighted to be asked to deliver a keynote presentation for RMIT’s Teaching and Learning Festival 2022 (although unfortunately I wasn’t able to visit Melbourne in person, much as I eagerly await the opportunity for another visit).

The topic was how we include students in our academic integrity work and empower them to take a leading role. But as always, this was quite a wide ranging discussion designed to help educators to think more about this area and bringing in several examples of my current work with student partners.

I don’t have access to the full recording, but the slides are up on on my SlideShare account and you can see them below.

The slides are very slightly edited from the original version just to remove some RMIT specific information.

They do have more pictures of teddy bears than usual, just because I was going through a phase of teddy bear generation with some of the AI art software I’m using! Plus, it can be a little less controversial to show pictures of misbehaving teddy bears than misbehaving students.

I hope there are lots of ideas here about how we can support our students, ensure they feel valued and help them to operate with academic integrity principles in mind.
