Improving Academic Integrity Policies at UK Universities

What can we learn about institutional attitudes to academic integrity based on published policy documents. This was a question I addressed with Chloe Lau as part on an Imperial College London StudentShapers project.

We presented several outcomes at the Advance HE Teaching and Learning Conference 2022, although I was unfortunately only able to join this one remotely.

Some key findings from the study included that we found a generally negative view to academic integrity, with a focus mainly on academic integrity breaches and penalties. We also found several universities with policy documents that heavily overlapped with one another, an area from which you can draw your own conclusions.

This data was collected when Covid-19 was heavily influencing practice in the sector, so it would be useful to repeat this study now, see what it shows and if universities have been in a position to make improvements.
