{"id":83,"date":"2012-12-08T18:36:03","date_gmt":"2012-12-08T18:36:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thomaslancaster.co.uk\/blog\/?p=83"},"modified":"2022-12-17T22:04:02","modified_gmt":"2022-12-17T22:04:02","slug":"who-are-you-paying-for-assignments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thomaslancaster.co.uk\/blog\/who-are-you-paying-for-assignments\/","title":{"rendered":"Who Are You Paying For Assignments?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just spotted an interesting little remark as part of <a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.com\/forums\/index.php?ChronicleUser=4am9hd71514taerek60715b764&amp;topic=119407.msg2450973#msg2450973\">an online discussion about cheating<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We also had a student to went to one of the contract-cheating sites to do his program.\u00a0 We then set him up so the offer to code came from one of our own grad students.\u00a0 When he paid for the code, he was dismissed from the university.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think that anyone would debate that paying someone else to do an assignment for them is wrong.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of ways to being caught contract cheating, but paying someone is one of the worst (I wonder if the student got his money back?).<\/p>\n<p>I think that the penalty, in this case, sends out the right message.
