{"id":1152,"date":"2022-10-08T12:54:54","date_gmt":"2022-10-08T11:54:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thomaslancaster.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1152"},"modified":"2022-12-17T21:18:38","modified_gmt":"2022-12-17T21:18:38","slug":"putting-students-first-in-the-academic-integrity-discussion-keynote-presentation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thomaslancaster.co.uk\/blog\/putting-students-first-in-the-academic-integrity-discussion-keynote-presentation\/","title":{"rendered":"Putting Students First in the Academic Integrity Discussion &#8211; Keynote Presentation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was delighted to be asked to deliver a keynote presentation for RMIT&#8217;s Teaching and Learning Festival 2022 (although unfortunately I wasn&#8217;t able to visit Melbourne in person, much as I eagerly await the opportunity for another visit).<\/p>\n<p>The topic was <strong>how we include students in our academic integrity work<\/strong> and empower them to take a leading role. But as always, this was quite a wide ranging discussion designed to help educators to think more about this area and bringing in several examples of my current work with student partners.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t have access to the full recording, but the slides are up on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/ThomasLancaster\">on my SlideShare account<\/a> and you can see them below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 1px solid #CCC; border-width: 1px; margin-bottom: 5px; max-width: 100%;\" src=\"\/\/www.slideshare.net\/slideshow\/embed_code\/key\/KyJFc5pvbI7DfQ\" width=\"595\" height=\"485\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"> <\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The slides are very slightly edited from the original version just to remove some RMIT specific information.<\/p>\n<p>They do have more pictures of teddy bears than usual, just because I was going through a phase of teddy bear generation with some of the AI art software I&#8217;m using! Plus, it can be a little less controversial to show pictures of misbehaving teddy bears than misbehaving students.<\/p>\n<p>I hope <strong>there are lots of ideas here about how we can support our students<\/strong>, ensure they feel valued and help them to operate with academic integrity principles in mind.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was delighted to be asked to deliver a keynote presentation for RMIT&#8217;s Teaching and Learning Festival 2022 on how we include students in our academic work.
