It is assumed that essay writing imparts crtical thinking skill useful in life. Clearly not for the many who find they have to resort to this in Kenya, Pakistan and Morocco. Having a Degree proves to be not that useful in countries where there is a dearth of vocational skills (a common problem in Africa). People writing essays for others simple show the lack of actual ‘integrity’ in Higher Education around assessment. It is lazy because lecturing is easy, teaching is hard, essay setting is east, assessment is hard.
